"Story" and "storylines" have little place in MMORPG's, especially if crafted as such to present "on rails" gameplay in which players are forced down contrived linear story paths instead of being allowed to freely explore and interact with the game world.

ANY TIME, I hear of a new game, be it MMO or not, that touts its "story" or "storyline", I count this as a red flag.

What is missing in today's MMO's is "freedom": the ability to roam in a dangerous and mysterious "free range" world.

I do hope that Copernicus' "story" is more based around lore and existing factions "in the present moment", and not upon some story arc players will be herded down. I am done with story arcs; I am looking for a "world" to game in.

Thanks so much for the interview, Stephen and to Steve as well. From all that I've read on the 38 Studios guys, I am incredibly excited about the whole Copernicus project and all the passion and vision that these guys seem to have for their games and for the genre at large. I know as an MMO and RPG fan, some of the best times in all of gaming have been when i was pulled into a vibrant world with really deep storytelling, and I can't wait for all that these games sounds like they will be.

Cheers
